Job Description:As a SQL Server DBA, you will manage and optimize Microsoft SQL Server database environments, including virtual machine (VM) servers. You will ensure best practices in database planning, design, configuration, performance, and capacity management, fostering the highest levels of reliability and performance. Collaborating with the DBA ITM1, you will help meet team goals, metrics, and provide strategic leadership in database architecture, innovation, and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide DBA support for distributed servers in a multi-datacenter environmentMonitor and optimize SQL environment performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement solutionsOffer technical assistance to application development teams on SQL design and programmingConfigure SQL services, plan and coordinate SQL Server releases, migrations, upgrades, and maintenanceCollaborate with network, IIS administrators, and storage teams for SQL server configurationsDevelop technical documentation, project plans, and interact with customers for proposed solutionsProvide support for deploying code and troubleshoot application issuesLead meetings related to database system design, implementation, and maintenanceDesign, configure, and set up SQL cluster nodes, monitor load balance, and optimize cluster parametersImplement log shipping, replication, and high-performance configurations for SQL environmentsChampion database innovation and automation, while supporting strategic capacity planningLead incident resolution efforts and research new database products and solutions
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
Experience supporting SQL Server in a multi-datacenter environmentExpertise in troubleshooting and resolving SQL performance issuesProficiency in configuring SQL services, building environments, and managing upgradesExperience with DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Bitbucket, etc.)Strong technical leadership skills, with the ability to guide less experienced personnelProven track record in designing high-performance SQL clusters and replication strategiesExperience with Unix, Linux, and AIX operating systems in virtualized infrastructure environmentsSQL Server DBA certification preferred
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $50.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
