Voice Network Engineer

Position summary
The Voice Network Engineer has the ability to design, maintain, troubleshoot, and deploy core network voice, data services including but not limited to; Class 4/5 telephony switches, Session Border Controllers, QoS-enabled routed and switched infrastructure, VoIP/IP telephony systems, remote access solutions and carrier/partner integrations. The Voice Network Engineer is responsible for translating complex business requirements and aligning the appropriate solution to support business needs. This position is accountable for maintenance and support activities to model production-ready configurations.
Position responsibilities
•Responsible for research, design, implementation, documentation, and operation of multiple multitenant solutions such as Cisco and Metaswitch to provide cloud ready products for an international customer base.
•Maintain and support voice network to provide high level of reliability for call routing for all CallTower platforms, including configuration and system updates in response to changes from cloud platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, and Zoom.
•Coordinate with staff outside of the technology group, including acting as the highest level of escalation for support and solution architects.
•Highest level of escalation for Voice Switch translations and TDM network, including acting as escalation point for other engineers.
•Support highly available, geographically diverse environment including the necessary processes and communications.
•Maintain the quality and throughput metrics for data and voice delivery to their ultimate destinations
•Maintain high degree of industry knowledge relative to network and IP telephony technologies, products and vendors and introduce them as solutions where applicable
•Must communicate professionally both internally and customer facing
•Other duties as assigned by management
Essential Skills and Experience
•Bachelor or above degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related Engineering majors, or equivalent work experience.
•4+ years of voice network engineer experience or equivalent
•Strong knowledge of Session Border Controller configuration.
•Able to maintain, provision and support company's networking and Telecommunications infrastructure
•Strong level of knowledge of voice networking and technologies, including Class 4 /5 switch operation, TDM Voice networking (including PRI and SS7,) and LCR design along with other supported voice technologies and concepts.
•Strong knowledge of data networking. •Strong knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 QoS mechanisms
•Expert knowledge of various VoIP signaling protocols including SIP, H323, and SCCP
•Trouble shooting, problem resolution, project management and technology evaluation skills to meet business requirements
•Skilled with network trouble shooting and management tools - Sniffer, cable testers, packet capture/decoding software
•Working knowledge of Microsoft productivity tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio
•Working knowledge of Microsoft and Linux server administration
•Fluent in written and spoken English
