Job Title: Level 2 Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Full-Time) Job Specialty: Acute Level 2 RN - Emergency Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12 hours (Day/Night/Weekend/Holiday rotation) Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of one year experience in an acute hospital as a registered professional nurse License: Valid RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification Must-Have: One year of experience in an Emergency Room environment Job Description: - Apply knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills to deliver high-quality compassionate care to patients and families.- Assess patient needs, identify urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively provide direct care with appropriate interventions.- Use skills in various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations.- Utilize relationship-based care principles to alleviate anxiety, provide information, and address patient pain/discomfort and safety.- Connect with patients and families during triage and assign priority of care according to Triage Standards.- Conduct primary and secondary assessments of patients, identifying deviations from norms and necessary interventions.- Document psychosocial needs and report any suspicions of domestic violence or abuse.- Encourage and build trust, respect, and cooperation among team members for optimal patient outcomes.- Delegate tasks and interventions consistent with team education, training, and scope of practice.- Safeguard public safety by complying with infection prevention strategies.- Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments, providing necessary referrals for post-emergency care.- Teach patients and families what is needed for continued care at home, evaluating retention of key education and discharge instructions.- Keep patients and significant others informed of care processes and anticipate needs throughout the emergency room visit.- Maintain awareness of patient conditions and update communication boards throughout the patient's stay in the emergency department.
