Job Description - Youth Program Coordinator40 hours, Temporary (Sept.-June) / BWH CCHHE (3305732)Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Center for Community Health and Health Equity (BWH CCHHE) advances systems of care and community health programs to eliminate health inequities and elevate the health status of underserved communities. The CCHHE works with a wide range of community organizations, health centers, and schools to accomplish this mission. BWH’s youth programs are built upon the commitment of the hospital to fostering a diverse workforce in the healthcare field and a strong belief that educational and employment opportunity is a vital ingredient for community wellness.High School and College ProgramsThe Education and Alumni Coordinator will work across CCHHE youth programs by developing and leading educational support program components for high school students. The Coordinator also leads the effort to communicate and support student alumni in their college years and beyond. The Coordinator will contribute to shaping a system within Mass General Brigham to support college graduates seeking medical school, employment, guiding students and other BWH personnel as well as monitor the effectiveness of post-college employment support.Coordinate the delivery of student academic support services provided by program consultants, with intern assistance, including weekly tutoring, SAT preparation as well as college preparation assistance and college tours.Collaborate with Evaluation Team to develop evaluation tools to measure success of academic programs and scholarship.Identify skills that high school students need to support their successful transition to college and beyond.Manage the established SSJP College Scholarship application and award process with intern support.Develop and deliver communication to students and families about all academic services offered.Assist with SSJP graduation and create and coordinate the development and production of SSJP Yearbook for seniors.College FocusLead communication with all SSJP alumni through their college years to provide connections to resources and individual support.Coordinate on-campus support, such as: alumni meet-ups, care packages, in-person meetings when feasible.Develop relationships and communication with key educational institutions and other organizations to advance student opportunities.Update student information and track check-ins and other forms of student contact in ETO.Develop and coordinate alumni events, including winter and spring break social and career-development events.SSJP Summer College InternshipInterview, hire, and onboard 30 eligible SSJP alumni college students for SSJP College Summer internship.Communicate with various BWH department staff to cultivate internship placements.Run orientation and additional career-development seminars for interns.Pre-Med ProgramHelp design and deliver new mentorship program for SSJP alumni pre-med students.Collaborate with BWH physicians, Program Director, and others to raise awareness of program and recruit mentors.Pair each pre-med student with a BWH doctor to mentor.Coordinate supports for MCAT and medical school applications.Networking and Meeting ParticipationParticipate in network meetings as required in the job and youth development sector.Contribute to program evaluation and innovation to support the long-term success of our students.QualificationsHigh School Diploma / GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.A minimum of 2 - 5 years’ experience working in youth development and/or teaching with college and high school students.Skills/AbilitiesExperience teaching young people using a trauma-informed practice.Strong program planning and administrative skills.Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of challenges faced for students in college and the ability to help them navigate these challenges.Demonstrated ability to assist young people with the transition from high school to college.Experience working with diverse communities.Bilingual a plus.Brigham and Women’s Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
