The Behavioral Medicine Research Laboratory (BMRL) at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is seeking a

Research Assistant

to support the reporting and analyses for a large pragmatic comparative effectiveness trial of knee osteoarthritis treatments (the HEAL SKOAP Study), and other studies conducted under the BMRL umbrella.

Specific duties & responsibilities:The Research Assistant will support research data collection and management activities. Primary responsibilities are as follows:

Manage datasets/variables and perform data cleaningMerge, create and recode variables to prepare data for analysesDevelop data cleaning programs for new forms and run data cleaning programs for existing formsDevelop and implement data quality assurance procedures to ensure validity and reliability of study resultsCreate analysis datasets for use by other investigators.Serve as a quality control checkpoint person for analyses when neededResponsible for maintaining the integrity and security of data during data processingProactively seek to improve or optimize workflow and discuss with coordinator/supervisor as appropriateCommunicate with the Director of Informatics regularly with respect to data quality related issuesOther potential responsibilities:Develop analytical code for use in a highly collaborative environment.Write detailed documentation/specifications for analysis data sets and related filesPerform and document analyses on large, complex datasets using statistical software packages.Work with investigators to in the performance of analyses.Create tables and figures in publication-quality form summarizing the results of statistical analyses and present results orally to study investigators.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:Excellent organizational, communication and writing skills.Programming skills in R/SAS/STATA strongly preferredPrior experience working with large data sets, creating programs and generating tables, strongly preferred

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in related discipline.Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

Internship or similar experience helping with programming tasks and/or data analysis, preferably in a research setting
