RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

Implements organization's goals, may provide input into strategic goals for the IT infrastructure environment. Conducts research, evaluates data, and reports on findings, supporting the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs. Has familiarity with the IT budget, may provide input into spending decisions, particularly as pertains to vendors, systems, and projects. Typically works on projects and initiatives that span 12 months - 2 years.

The Lead Cloud Systems Engineer will design, install, manage, troubleshoot, and oversee the day-to-day operations of our hybrid cloud and infrastructure environment, which includes servers, storage, backups, enterprise software and virtualized infrastructure within our cloud deployments and on-premises office locations.

The Lead Cloud Systems Engineer troubleshoots a wide array of complex system issues to ensure the security, availability and integrity of our systems and data while meeting industry best practices.

Additionally, the Lead Cloud Systems Engineer will take ownership of various assigned projects, implement initiatives, assist in the design and planning of cloud infrastructure projects, and provide Tier 3 - 4 support for other IT team members.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:Participate in IT change approval board (CAB) and change management processes as well as any incident management and post-incident review processes.Review changes by other IT engineers before submission for CAB approval.Submit and present changes to CAB as required.Proactively manage the Systems Team Service Desk ticket queue to maintain appropriate issue resolution SLAs, assigning support tickets and requests as necessary.Design, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments along with other IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions within the IT department's purview.Design, implement, and support virtualization technologies to meet the needs of the organization ensuring high availability, recoverability, and performance.Manage and maintain SQL Server instances, including database performance tuning, backups, and disaster recovery planning.Manage database jobs, schedules, and automation scripts to maintain database health.Design, install, and maintain Public Key Infrastructure environment.Design, install, and manage Secure FTP infrastructure to support various business processes.Coordinate with other IT teams to ensure availability, reliability, security, and scalability of Windows platform infrastructure.Continuously monitor and optimize cloud and on-premises infrastructure performance, cost, availability, and security using various tools and metrics.Provide recommendations for improvements based on monitoring data.Design, implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies for cloud data and on-premises systems, ensuring that data is secure and accessible during a failure, outage, or security event.Develop and maintain automation scripts for repetitive infrastructure tasks, such as user account provisioning, ensuring scripts adhere to industry standards.Collaborate with third-party vendors / service partners to ensure IT infrastructure remains operational in an optimized state.Leading and Developing Talent: May partner with coworkers to advance their development.Project and Change Management: May serve as a team member, or subject matter expert, for formal or department projects. Two years of college education or experience equivalency, and a minimum of 5 years' experience.Progressively responsible experience in Windows system administration, including Windows Server, SQL Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PKI, Group Policy, Exchange/Mail Relay, Microsoft 365, IIS, SCCM/MECM, DFS/File Services, Print Services, and PowerShell.Experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud services engineering & administration, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the platform, with a strong focus on Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Virtual Desktops, AAD/Entra ID, Azure SQL Server, storage, monitoring, cloud cost management and optimization, SSO/SAML/SCIM.Relevant industry certifications preferred (e.g., MCSE, MS-102, AZ-104, AZ-140, AZ-305, etc.)Expert level knowledge of IT infrastructure operations, including Operating Systems (Windows/Linux), virtualization, storage, backup & recovery, and the supporting networking platforms.Ability to manage projects and coordinate other team member responsibilities in a project.Administration experience with enterprise platforms such as HPE, Veeam and VMware.Strong PowerShell skills for scripting and automation.Capability to provide after-hours support to identify and resolve issues relating to accessing or updating corporate IT-managed resources.Capability to design and implement dependable and scalable solutions to meet desired functionality, as well as to establish and manage all continuity requirements to support disaster recovery.
