Job Description

Come join us at Con Edison as a System Specialist supporting IT Build Data Center Engineering, where you will be able to make a significant impact on our IT infrastructure. You will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the efficient capacity management and oversight of the IT corporate data centers' assets and resources. This role involves analyzing applications and systems requirements, including systems infrastructure upgrades, and collaborating with various IT and departmental teams as resources are required from the corporate data centers in alignment with major projects.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

Conduct thorough assessments of current data centers infrastructure, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.Develop and implement strategies for effective data centers capacity management, ensuring optimal performance and scalability including inventory analysis.Collaborate with IT Build and Run Teams to integrate new systems in the data centers, while maintaining the integrity and security of the data center.Monitor system performance, analyze trends, and predict future needs to prevent capacity issues by analyzing past and future data center trending and forecasting data in collaboration with application teams.Manage data center assets, including hardware, software, and network resources, to ensure they are utilized efficiently.Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure that data center operations meet industry standards and best practices including data center management tools oversight.Provide technical guidance and support to other IT Run Data Center Engineering staff, facilitating knowledge sharing and skill development.Document all processes and maintain accurate records of data center operations and capacity planning efforts including future forecasting.Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution to ensure data center resilience.Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend improvements to data center operations.Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting at least 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and minimum of 2 years work experience to include at least one (1) year experience in IT Data Center industry. orAssociate's Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and minimum of 4 years work experience to include at least one (1) year experience in IT Data Center industry. orHigh School Diploma/GED and minimum of 5 years work experience to include at least one (1) year experience in IT Data Center industry.Relevant Work Experience

2+ years experience in data center capacity management or infrastructure operations. RequiredExcellent oral and written communication. Must be comfortable and skilled at managing customer expectations. RequiredMust be flexible and able to work off-hours as required to support deployments, resolve production problems or respond to corporate emergencies. RequiredAble to communicate processes and give persuasive presentations. Must be able to interact with all levels of management and communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience. RequiredAbility to manage multiple assignments with changing priorities while meeting deadlines. RequiredStrong understanding of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and security. RequiredAn understanding of ITIL processes and vendor management. PreferredStrong understanding of cyber security principles. PreferredOne (1) years supervisory / managerial experience. PreferredHand-on expertise with ticket management systems and monitoring tools ServiceNow and Data Center monitor tools such as EcoStruxure IT Advisor, Schneider Electric. PreferredExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to present concepts following analysis conducted. PreferredAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining deadlines. PreferredEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting. PreferredExpertise in capacity planning and performance monitoring tools.Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Azure Data Engineer Associate, ITIL) are a plus.Licenses And Certfications
