General Summary

Greenwood Credit Union has a unique opportunity for an early career level professional interested in expanding their skillset to become part of our Commercial Lending team. This position reports directly to our Vice President of Commercial Lending and will work closely with other teams across the Credit Union and is a great stepping-stone to other opportunities in commercial banking.

The Commercial Loan Assistant is responsible for supporting the commercial loan department by performing various administrative functions. They will become a key contact person to commercial members when the lender is unavailable by providing a high level of member support. In this role, you will learn all the ins and outs of this part of the industry and be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely servicing and member support activities for the Credit Union's commercial loan portfolio, while providing the highest level of service and support to the Credit Union's business members.

Essential Functions

The essential functions of this position may include, but are not limited to:Coordinate the preparation of files for new loans, renewals and modifications by:

Gathering necessary information/documentationProcess pre-closing deposits made by customers held against closing costs such as fees, appraisals, etc.Order required due diligence items (i.e. credit reports, flood certificates, appraisals, environmental reports, property inspections).Verify information and accuracy of loan application and closing documents to confirm that all pre-closing conditions have been met prior to authorizing funding.Completing documentation request forms ensuring requests are completed per terms of loan approval documentsWork with third-party professionals (attorneys, appraisers, inspectors, etc.) in order to close loans in conformity with approved terms and conditions.Effectively communicate with Borrowers for the completion of documentation, and to answer questions regarding loans and transactions - either by mail, telephone or in person, as needed

Prepare files for loan closings:

Assemble and compile all needed documents for loan closingsPrepare and review documentation for commercial loan closings for accuracy prior to closingAssist with scheduling of loan closingsPrepare loan funding information based upon the approval and closing documents, including basic accounting entries.Complete post-closing file maintenance and collection of closing binders

Provide administrative support to the Commercial Lending team, including:

Perform procedures related to loan advances, pay downs, collateral releases and construction disbursementsWork closely with Commercial Loan Servicing regarding customer maintenance issuesWork with MSRs to assist in deposit account opening and maintenance for commercial borrowersMaintaining department files in an accurate and efficient manner.Service commercial loan portfolio by answering telephone calls, responding to e-mails and responding to other inquiries in a timely fashion.Prepare reports, statements and other administrative reporting as requestedMaintain and apply knowledge of current lending policies, procedures, and regulations

Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of 2 year's prior experience in a loan operations or loan-closing environment.General knowledge/background of loan and legal documentation; familiarity with commercial and SBA loan documents is a plus.Strong interpersonal and written communication, customer service and relationship management skills.Ability to prioritize initiatives and duties.Ability to meet deadlines and follow directions in a timely, accurate and confidential manner.Ability to work independentlyFluent in English; Bilingual a plusDemonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel and internet navigationSelf-motivated and capable of working efficiently and with accuracy in a dynamic, high volume environment with established productivity goalsDeveloped organizational and time management skillsKnowledge of and adherence to proper telephone and email etiquetteDependability and flexibility with work hours and work assignmentsAbility to work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week and overtime, as neededCommitment to team environment, member confidentiality and outstanding member serviceHigh degree of professionalism with positive and professional image and demeanorConsent to conduct pre and active employment background screenings

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

speak, hear, sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach and grasp with hands and arms, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include those required to use computers for up to 8 hours a day.

Work Environment

The position is located in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
