The primary purpose of this position is to assist TBACU to live out its mission, "To serve our community and build trusted relationships." A key component of this service is to identify members' needs and provide appropriate TBACU product solutions which ultimately helps grow the credit union. To adequately and effectively serve members and TBACU's team members by providing prompt and accurate financial data and maintaining financial security.

Develop and enhance the commercial loan portfolio. Originate commercial loan applications. Provide input on potential new products and/or tends in the industry. Prepare or coordinate documentation and forms. Provide information on credit union products and services to current and potential commercial members according to all credit union policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Call on potential or existing members to develop new business and increase or retain existing business.
  • Identify, prospect, and develop relationships with potential vendors/partners of businesses for sources of commercial loan opportunities.
  • Interview prospective and existing commercial members, gathering all information needed for the application and decision-making process.
  • Assist members with the loan application process in person, on the phone, or electronically to ensure completeness of information.
  • Analyze applicant financial status, credit, and collateral evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan.
  • Ensure that sound assessment and lending procedures are followed and in compliance with the credit union's policies.
  • Evaluate the information provided by the commercial borrower.
  • Compile loan package and facilitate negotiation of loan structure with applicant, including fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms.
  • Explain reasons for denial outcomes and explore options for members when commercial loans, when applicable.
  • Verify the accuracy of commercial loan amounts and repayment terms on approved loan applications. Complete loan documents.
  • Perform loan review on all commercial loans to assess and mitigate risk by reporting any adverse findings to leadership. Recommend solutions to correct files that are missing items or are not compliant.
  • Answer questions from routine to complex related to commercial loans.
  • Ensure loan agreements and loan documentation are complete and accurate according to policy.
  • Assure timely loan closing and funding activities.
  • Service existing member portfolios by providing additional financial services, responding timely to inquiries, and ensuring timely receipt of financial information.
  • Recognize and analyze potential loan markets to develop prospects for commercial loans.
  • Advise CLO of external factors that may affect established lending policies, such as existing market conditions and new or revised legislation and regulations.
  • Coordinate collection efforts for commercial accounts with Collection team and/or leadership.
  • Seek out loan participation opportunities.
  • Interact with appropriate agencies to promote Small Business Administration (SBA) and other guaranteed loan programs.
  • Assist in maintaining acceptable delinquency levels.
  • Provide loan data to support marketing and sales promotion programs.
  • Stay abreast of competition.
  • Meet established position expectations.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of credit union products and services.

  • Compliance with the U.S Patriot Act and the Credit Union's Bank Secrecy and OFAC Policies and Procedures.
  • Compliance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Credit Union's Information Security program, maintaining the privacy and security of information, systems, and locations.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS

  • Able to sit or stand for 2-4 hours at a time

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Hybrid work environment available based on the needs of the department, after successfully completing training period.
  • Travel to and from credit union branches, member meetings, and networking events.
  • Must maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Protect the confidentiality of credit union employees and members be locking or removing items from desk/workstation when away.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field, preferred.
  • Five years of experience in banking, required.
  • Three or more years related experience in commercial lending, required.
  • Proven sales experience, meeting and exceeding established expectations, required.
  • Possess excellent listening, clear verbal, and professional written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite/o365 Suite.
    • Advanced ability and experience using Excel.
