Summary:
The School Bus Driver provides clean, safe and reliable transportation and ensures that students enjoy the full advantage of school programs and activities.
Position Responsibilities:
Transport students to and from school and school-related activities in a safe manner.Appropriately operate all vehicles and equipment in fleet.Communicate effectively with members of the school and community.Handle bus and students in adverse weather conditions.Ability to relate well to students.Inspect bus prior to and after each route or activity trip.Maintain bus in clean condition and inform the school of any routine maintenance or repairs required.Adhere to Archdiocese health and safety policiesOther duties as assignedAdhere to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and take precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent experience.License and Credentials
Valid Commercial Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsementsObtain school bus driver certificateAbility to pass DOT drug and alcohol testAbility to pass annual physicalAcceptable driving record: as required by the Texas Department of Public SafetyAbility to speak, read and write EnglishMust pass background checkMust be able to communicate effectivelyMust be able to follow written and verbal instructionsKnowledge of student discipline procedure and manage student behaviorAbility to operate school busMinimum Knowledge and Skills:
Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this positionMust be very customer service oriented.Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;Must have good written and verbal skills;Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Travel Requirements:
Travel requirements for the position includes 100% local and 20% overnight.
