Westminster Communities of Florida , a nationally recognized not-for-profit church related organization, is seeking an experienced
Accountant
to join our finance and accounting team in our management office near downtown Orlando. This position will play a key role in the financial management of a prominent not-for-profit organization. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization’s financial reporting processes.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Financial Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of bank statements and accounts.2. Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.Assist in the preparation of budget-to-actual reports and variance analyses.3. Compliance & Audit Support:
Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (e.g. GAAP) and relevant regulations (e.g. OIR).Support the annual audit process by preparing necessary documentation and liaising with both internal and external auditors.4. Data Management:
Utilize accounting software to maintain financial data and generate reports.Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all financial systems.5. Collaboration:
Work closely with managers and supervisors to provide financial guidance and support.Collaborate with other departments to facilitate effective financial operations.Works closely with community team members to provide assistance and support.6. Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.Assist in the implementation of new financial policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
Experience, Basic Knowledge and Abilities:
1-3 years accounting experience
Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and practices.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Acumatica, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
Strong organizational and time management abilities
