Programmer Analyst B

This client has history dating back more than 150 years and truly invests in its people. Under general supervision, provides thorough and practical solutions to moderately complex business problems through a clear understanding of standard programming principles, languages and concepts. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents and maintains those programs. Communicates well with staff as necessary, from the various divisions to which service is being provided. Competent to work on most phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities, but requires instruction and guidance in other phases.
Specific Position Responsibilities
Displays moderately complex programming skills, codes, tests, debugs, documentsDisplays clear knowledge of multiple of the following: Powerbuilder, Oracle, SQL, C# and/or VB .Net, SQL statements and stored proceduresKnowledge of QlikView, Reporting Services or Web Development is a plus.Maintains and modifies existing applications programs as well as writes new programs of moderate complexity and scope.Listens effectively and follows work instructions under general directionDevelops software to process complex systems with a high level of reliability and execution speed. Competent to work on most phases of application analysis and programmingProvides thorough and practical solutions to a variety of complex business problems.Demonstrates written and verbal skills that meet routine department needsLeads peers and subordinates with positive attitude.Provides good knowledge of organization and business functionsMeets assigned task schedules and participates in quality review of own and others work.Provides quality service in all areas of responsibility.Additional duties and responsibilities as required.Internal Contact:
Contacts are with systems and programming personnel. Periodic contact is required with otherdivisions using IS services.
External Contacts:
Vendors and consultants.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Must possess a clear understanding of standard programming principles, languages and concepts. Good knowledge of Powerbuilder, Oracle, SQL Server or similar relational database, C# and/or VB.NET or similar GUI development tool required. Knowledge of QlikView, Reporting Services or Web Development is a plus.
Basic knowledge of organization and business functions expected. Bachelor's degree required. Degree in computer science preferred. 3+ years programming and
analysis in a business environment. Insurance experience preferred.
Job Knowledge:

Receives continued formal advanced education, but should have all
basic courses.
