We are recruiting for a

Project

Accountant

to join a well-established and stable social services organization based in Sacramento. This is a new position as the company is experiencing growth. Our client has a strong mission in providing human rights services to individuals in the community and offers a very inclusive and collaborative culture. This is a hybrid (3 days onsite) direct hire position and a great opportunity to join an organization that values their employees and takes pride in their mission. The Project Accountant will be responsible for reviewing payroll, accounts payable processing, general ledger reconciliation, allocation code analysis, assisting with annual audit preparation, month end closing, back up to accounts payable and special projects. Pay: $70,000-$80,000 DOE.

The qualified candidate will have five years of accounting/payroll experience, excellent MS Excel skills, solid understanding of CA wage and hour laws and strong knowledge of GAAP.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Review biweekly payroll processing.Prepare monthly detailed labor reports for the expense of payroll and benefits.Monitor and analyze accounting allocation codes monthly/quarterly. Research and respond to grant usage questions.Enter yearly budget files in accounting software system.Enter data into government and funder websites.Prepare monthly payroll related journal entries.Prepare/Review accounts payable transactions.Process benefit carrier payments.Participate in audit preparation and closing processes.Prepare adjusting entries and any account reconciliations.Assist with month end closing tasks as assigned.Accounts Payable backup.Backup to Payroll Specialist.Perform special projects as assigned.SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates Degree in Business or Accounting required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.5+ years of direct payroll and accounting experience serving 300+ employees applying CA wage and hour laws and GAAP.Demonstrated Accounting knowledge including general ledger, accounts payable and reconciliation experience with the ability to apply GAAP to all Accounting transactions.Extensive experience using an electronic payroll and enterprise accounting software.Direct experience producing quarterly and annual payroll reports.Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Excel (including pivot tables and semi-complex formulas).Strong verbal and written communication skills.Non-profit Multi-fund accounting experience is a plus.Paylocity payroll experience preferred.Ability to manage high levels of data in a fast-paced environment using critical decision making and problem-solving skills.Multi-location payroll / accounting experience preferred.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential material.
