As a Sr UX Researcher, you will design, execute, and analyze user experiments to guide the development of Amazon next gen conversational AI - rufus from a research prototype to launch. This role is on the Search & Shopping Conversational Design and Research team with the impact, autonomy, flexibility, and speed of innovation of a high-growth startup, powered by the resources of Amazon. The Sr. UX Researcher will have a passion for improving the customer experience and driving high-visibility programs that will impact product designs used by millions of people. From inception through launch, you will be a research owner, responsible for delivering customer insights, and influencing partners to iterate and improve, translating customer needs and constraints into simple, intuitive, customer-focused solutions. You will define approach and execution for complex studies, and drive that vision into solid research deliverables such as written reports, presentations, customer mental models, and other impactful artifacts. You will collaborate closely with design, engineering, science, product management, and marketing both inside our organization, and with partner teams. This role requires exceptional written and oral communication skills, excellent judgment, strong interpersonal skills, deep curiosity about how things work, and a passion for serving customers. You must enjoy context-switching and partnering at all levels of the organization to deliver results. Work closely with the design and product teams throughout to measure and communicate UX research findings and guidelines around the various customer experience solutions evaluated.

Design and conduct complex research studies using multiple methods to influence teams and features.

Hands-on work with: user testing, remote testing, low-fidelity prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept evaluation, field research, and survey design.

Contribute to the group’s best practices for UX research while continually advocating for proactive research thinking, process, and craft throughout our organization.

Communicate insights and findings clearly and persuasively across different audiences.

Champion customer advocacy and integrate UX research into the product development process.

Demonstrate the ability to manage ambiguity and work autonomously at times in an agile environment.

Basic Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years proven with applied research experience in a consumer-facing product development environment.

Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Design, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MA/MS in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Behavioral Economics, or a related field.

Prior experience conducting research independently.

Experience in many aspects of research (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting).

Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences.

Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver projects of significant scope and high complexity.

Understanding and grasp of both quantitative and qualitative methods and data analysis.

Demonstrated passion for translating data into action.

Experience driving creative solutions in new/ambiguous product territory.

Eagerness to continually learn, grow and improve the craft of research.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
