These fundamental principles are key to establishing and preserving our reputation as a reliable environmental and land use consulting firm that is repeatedly entrusted by our clients with supporting achievement of their goals.A Day in the LifeThe GIS Analyst leverages their knowledge of GIS fundamentals and spatial data work flows to set up and support efficient data collection for field crews, georeference CAD and PDF maps from project design teams, and digitize and prepare spatial analysis to support mapping and impact analysis. The GIS Analyst is responsible for supporting the geospatial needs of technical staff as well as using GIS tools to prepare stand alone GIS services. Superior attention to detail, with a methodical and workflow-driven approach to their work is essential to successfully fulfill this role. At Envicom, we pride ourselves on our open-source approach.

Accordingly, this role requires competency with QGIS and moderate python (QPy) skills for ETL and automation processes, or expertise with QGIS’s graphic modeler. Further, this position requires a solid understanding of geospatial principles, such as datums and projections, GPS, precision vs. accuracy, and an understanding of the principles of photogrammetry, e.g., orthorectification. Spatial alignment and accuracy is critical to this role. Note, this is not a data science position. The GIS Analyst reports to the GIS Manager.What You Will Do:Georeferencing CAD & raster dataFile conversion between CAD and GISResolve interoperability issuesCAD feature extractionField data collection setup & post-processingCreate project impact footprintsMeticulously manage GIS server filesMaintain hardware and software (incl. updates)Run existing company automations & generate additional ones as neededFollow Envicom-defined workflows to create quality GIS dataPerform impact analyses and provide accurate calculationsData QA/QCLocate external datasets and WMS sourcesMaintain aerial imagery resourcesWhat We Expect of You :BS in Geographic Information Systems or similar + 4 years experience, or MS in Geographic Information Systems + 2 years experience. GISP certification is a plus.Must have excellent troubleshooting skills with data, hardware, and software.Must have working competency in python or graphic modeling.Prefer an understanding of site/grading plans and how to extract the necessary features from CADPrefer someone with GIS experience for environmental permitting and analysisRaster analysis/remote sensing skills and experience with Globalmapper are a plus.The RewardsAs we work to provide solutions for our clients, we also work to develop our team’s professional and personal well-being.
