We are seeking a temporary Commerical Loan Assistant to join our Chicago, Illinois team!
The Commercial Loan Assistant (CLA) will support Business Development Officers (BDOs) responsible for building Self-Help’s commercial loan pipeline in the Chicago area. The CLA must provide excellent customer service to applicants regarding their loan applications and to those referring borrowers for a commercial loan. They will help applicants understand the loan process and collect their supporting documentation. They must be able to clearly communicate their assessments and borrower information back to the BDOs, relay questions when necessary, and set up appointments.
What You’ll Do:
Answer applicants’ questions via phone, email and in person about the loan process and completing the loan application Track outstanding loan application items and follow up with borrowers to ensure timely receipt of necessary documentation Upload and organize files in on-line loan origination system Maintain effective communication with applicants and internal staff on loan status, follow-up and documentation requests, and follow-up on borrower referrals from internal credit union staff Assist with loan closings, including collecting documents, producing and reviewing loan documentation, and conducting actual closings when needed. Assist BDOs with other tasks as assigned, including setting up appointments with borrowers as necessary What You’ll Need:
Associate’s degree plus 2 years relevant experience or equivalent related experience Excellent customer service skills Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Keen attention to detail, ability to effectively organize and prioritize work Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to identify potential issues and find effective solutions Ability to learn new information quickly and apply such learnings Strong technical aptitude to learn new systems, proficiency in Excel and Word English/Spanish fluency Strong commitment to mission – creating economic opportunity for traditionally underserved communities
Physical Requirements:
Frequently requires use of manual dexterity and repetitive motions, primarily with the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to occasionally lift and exert force of up to 40 pounds.
