Commercial Attorney

A prominent law firm is seeking a seasoned Commercial Attorney to join the global Risk team, contributing to the firm’s ongoing success by managing complex client contracts and providing strategic advice. This role requires a skilled attorney with expertise in contract negotiation, risk assessment, and commercial strategy, who will collaborate with multiple teams across the firm, including Finance, Business Development, and Information Security.LocationWashington, D.C.DutiesAddress legal, ethical, business, and strategic issues across various areas.Draft and negotiate complex client-facing contracts and agreements across different business sectors.Ensure client contracts adhere to ethical standards and internal policy requirements.Identify, assess, and mitigate business and legal risks in contracts while aligning with business goals.Collaborate with firm partners to manage client agreements and commercial requests.Draft and manage legal documents, templates, and client-facing communications.Support and manage compliance and risk-related audits.Enhance efficiency and scalability within the commercial legal support function.Supervise and collaborate with the global Risk team’s administrative staff.Work with other teams such as Finance, Business Development, and Information Security.RequirementsJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Minimum of 4 years of experience, either in a top-tier law firm or in an in-house role.Expertise in contract drafting and negotiation, with strong interpersonal and client-facing skills.Detail-oriented with a high standard of accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.Excellent judgment and the ability to make risk-based assessments under ambiguous conditions.Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize effectively.Proactive, resourceful, and committed to delivering results.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree required.Certifications and SkillsExceptional written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational and project management skills.Proficiency in legal research and document management tools.Capable of working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
