The CAT serves hundreds of researchers across dozens of research groups. The candidate is expected to have a strong background in genomics and in particular next generation sequencing (NGS) with an emphasis on Illumina and Pacific Biosciences platforms. Strong technical knowledge, management & interpersonal skills, and a commitment to customer service is extremely important.Responsibilities:Administration of the center including managing recharge proposals, grant writing, billing, and overseeing IT infrastructure.Manage a team comprising Bachelors and PhD level staff.Plan and execute acquisition of new equipment by communicating with companies and other academic groups.Assist researchers and experimental design, development of new NGS techniques, and selection of proper methods.Setup hands-on training workshops and teach in graduate and professional courses.Required Qualifications:A PhD degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field.Candidates should have strong organizational skills, be flexible, and be able to prioritize tasks, have excellent verbal and written communication skills.Previous experience with Illumina and/or Pacific Biosciences platforms.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in single cell sequencing, developing new sample prep methods, and high throughput automation programming.Previous experience with equipment maintenance, image analysis, and training in a core facility environment is desirable.Experience working within collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.Experience with IT infrastructure management.The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $145,500-$309,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.Please apply online at:
