The Director of Donor Relations is responsible for overseeing and enhancing donor stewardship programs across Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), serving the entire network of hospitals. This role involves the development, implementation, and management of donor relations strategies that engage and recognize top donors, ensure stewardship best practices, and deepen donor relationships. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Donor Relations, the Director will collaborate closely with senior leadership, including Vice Presidents and fundraising teams, while supervising 1-2 direct reports.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

including but not limited to:

Responsible for the development and implementation of donor recognition plans, which may include special acknowledgments, press releases, event announcements, recognition gifts, plaques, and/or signage, for selected gifts, as well as any special donor recognition requests.

Develop and manage recognition plan activities to recognize, steward, and acknowledge major and principal donors in partnership with frontline fundraisers. Create and implement donor engagement and recognition opportunities to enable donors to feel connected and engaged.

Build and manage the plaque database in order to maintain an accurate and historic archive of BIDMC plaques, as well as create and manage new funding and naming opportunities.

Manage building materials and renderings to promote and market naming opportunities in new buildings and existing spaces. Create promotional content to support proposals and solicitation materials with naming opportunities.

Manage the design, manufacture, and installation process of donor recognition signage including the creation and tracking of signage authorization forms and signage mockups in partnership with BILH and/or hospital Facilities and Planning teams, Office of General Counsel, the City of Boston, and key vendors.

Work with architects and facilities staff to support all signage changes and moves according to facility renovation plans.

Create recognition and stewardship standards across the campaign priorities including both building and programmatic areas according to donor giving levels. Conduct benchmarking to identify industry best practices for recognition standards and pricing of naming opportunities including capital spaces and programmatic efforts.

Oversee special stewardship touches including managing stewardship events such as ribbon cuttings, special occasion events, signage reveals, grand openings, and stewardship event coordination.

Responsible for developing and implementing the annual strategic plan for Donor Relations, setting goals and objectives for the coming year.

Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews. Direct Reports: 2-3 Indirect Reports: None.

Has full responsibility for planning, monitoring, and managing department budget.

Team Work: Ability to lead collaborative teams for larger projects or groups both internal and external to the Medical Center and across functional areas. Results have implications for the management and operations of multiple areas of the organization.

Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.
