JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 32Summary of the Job:The RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for patients enrolled in the cardiac rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation program. The RN will facilitate restoration and maintenance of the patient's optimal physiological, psychological, social, vocational, and emotional status through a multidisciplinary approach that includes the family, hospital departments, and community resources. The RN coordinates activities between Phases I, II, III and Maintenance Program. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN focuses on the cardiopulmonary and musculoskeletal systems, risk factors, learning needs and barriers, and functional capacity. The RN also works closely with the patient's physician to coordinate patient admission, exercise prescription, evaluation of progress and interventional needs, thus assisting with the continuum of care. This position evaluates the patient's progress toward goals and recognizes potential emergency situations during exercise.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current LA RN LicensureOne year of recent critical care or telemetry experience required. Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehab experience preferred.Current BLS and ALS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.Good communication and writing skills, works independently.

Physical Demands:Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
