Every employee takes a person-centered approach that exemplifies the ICARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence) through empathic communication and partnerships between all persons.Job DescriptionPurpose of PositionUnder the direction of the Assistant Clinical Director in the WTC EHC, the head nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the quality of care rendered in the WTC EHC. As the Head Nurse, she/he has the responsibility of managing the clinic to guarantee quality care for every patient seen in the clinic and is held accountable by the use of the nursing process. She/he is responsible for the implementation of the Nursing Department philosophy and objectives of Nursing Care through the use of the department's policy and procedures.Functional Duties/Responsibilities:Reports directly to the Assistant Clinical Director in the WTC EH.Performs all staff nurse responsibilitiesMakes staff assignments; give each staff member the briefing necessary for the care of patients inthe assigned clinic.Checks for absent and late employees and monitors the computerized sign-in and out sheet documentation.Performs initial assessment and re-assessment of patient receiving care in the clinic and assistsMD with all examinations.Enters data into the Exposure Medical Questionnaire (EMQ).Assist with troubleshooting Nursing staff EMQ issues and reports to the appropriate teams.Reviews WTC EHC IRB consenting data and assigns based off of incomplete + Supervises EPIC in-basket Nursing Pool messages to ensure timely response.Makes staff assignments; give each staff member the briefing necessary for the care of patients in the assigned clinic.Supervises medication treatment and diagnostic procedures administered or performed by staff.Conducts interdisciplinary referrals or conferences as the need arises with therapist, social worker,dietitian, and physicians and other health team members.Collaborates with administrative staff to enhance patient flow and ensure smooth and efficient dailyoperations.Initiates or delegates assignments for the requisitions for ordering of medications, surgical supplies.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and2. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); and3.
