Job DetailsResponsibilities:
As a Litigation Paralegal/Legal Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Assisting attorneys with all aspects of litigation, including discovery, court filings, and trial preparation.
- Drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
- Coordinating and managing the in-house filing system to ensure documents are easily accessible and well-organized.
- Handling billing related tasks, including preparing invoices and tracking payments.
- Drafting letters and other correspondence for attorneys.
- Requesting and managing medical bills and medical records in personal injury and medical malpractice cases.
- Conducting legal research and gathering relevant information to assist attorneys in case preparation.
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel in a professional and courteous manner.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in the personal injury practice area.
- Proven experience in drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Familiarity with billing procedures and practices in the legal industry.
- Practical experience with managing an in-house filing system.
- Knowledge of how to request and manage medical bills and medical records in personal injury and medical malpractice cases.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in the use of legal research tools and software.
