Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 per year

We are working with a national defense manufacturer that is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join their team in Fairfield, VA!

The Cost Accountant will develop and reconcile inventory and cost standards, including production and overhead costs. The ideal candidate will track and evaluate day-to-day activities including establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting information.

• Assist in period end cost analysis and reporting, including product margin analyses.
• Determine cost standards for materials and labor.
• Assist in designing and implementing cost accounting systems.
• Analyze production costs and recommend cost-savings measures.
• Analyze and monitor inventory balances and reconciliations at month-end.
• Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
• Assist in completing annual audits with Controller.
• Meet financial accounting objectives.
• Maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
• Assist in overseeing annual physical inventory.

Qualifications:

• Proven work experience as a Cost Accountant or Senior Accountant.
• Expert computer skills on the MS Office platform specifically MS Excel and advanced knowledge of enterprise accounting software (ERP) and databases.
• Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and product analysis / reports.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices.
• Undergraduate degree in accounting or relevant field.

Highly Desirable:

• Cost accounting or 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, ERP inventory management or inventory valuation.
