Payroll Administrator

Location: Casual, Flexible Work Environment in Boulder, CO with Remote Options

Our client, a long-standing non-profit organization dedicated to promoting human rights, is seeking a part-time Payroll Administrator to manage payroll processes for a growing, multi-state workforce. This part-time position offers 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with flexible hours during core business operations. The Payroll Administrator will work in a casual environment with a new office space and the option to work remotely. The ideal candidate will possess strong ADP experience and a passion for contributing to a mission-driven cause.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Payroll Administrator will oversee semi-monthly payroll, including hourly and salaried staff across multiple states (including California)
  • Ensure the correct setup of new employees in ADP, maintaining compliance with company policies and state/federal regulations
  • Review and process time sheets for hourly staff and track leave, OT, and other adjustments for salaried employees
  • The Payroll Administrator will work closely with support staff to ensure timely submission and review of time sheets
  • Handle payroll transmittal twice a month (on the 15th and EOM), ensuring completion 3 days prior to the end of the pay period
  • Maintain payroll records and generate reports as required
  • The Payroll Administrator will ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, particularly with California-specific requirements

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in multi-state payroll processing, including California-specific requirements
  • The Payroll Administrator must be proficient in ADP payroll systems
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate payroll processing and transmittal
  • Ability to manage payroll activities independently within tight deadlines
  • The Payroll Administrator will need to coordinate effectively with team members to maintain accuracy and compliance
  • Experience with time and billing systems is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The Payroll Administrator must be comfortable working in a casual, mission-driven environment with flexibility to work remotely
