SPECIAL EDUCATION AIDE

The Wattsburg Area School District is looking for candidates for Special Education Aide positions.

Shift: First Shift, Monday through Friday when students are in session Pay Rate: $17.72 per hour, 7 hours per day, 180 days per school year

Overview:

Qualified individuals will spend their days in a multitude of learning environments working 1:1 or in small groups with students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

· Aides also will be assisting teachers with preparing materials for a variety of needs within the classroom.

· Basic computer usage needed to assist students with their computer devices.

· There may be an opportunity for additional hours through the monitoring of students on assigned bus routes.

· Necessary trainings and certifications for this position are provided and include current CPR and First Aid Certifications, de-escalation strategies through Handle With Care and/or Ukeru, and 20 yearly hours of continuing education.

Qualifications:

· All applicants must have an associate's degree OR Competency through a locally given assessment.

· Interested individuals must be well-organized, energetic, and have a strong desire to help students and assist faculty members.

· Maintain a pleasant and positive attitude.

Required Clearances:

· Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances, Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training; and

· Act 168 Sexual Abuse/Misconduct Disclosure; and

· Health physical and tuberculin skin test required.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to sit, stand, walk and move around the classroom.

· Ability to lift and carry items as necessary in the classroom.
