GRADE 7STARTING HOURLY RATE: $20.85 - $21.81 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)

SUMMARY:

The Van Driver drives van/vehicles transporting students on assigned routes and special trips; maintains order on vehicles; assists when appropriate students who require specialized transportation being transported as necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDrives van/vehicles on regular route transporting students to and from school and on field trips.Cleans interior van/vehicles daily.Maintains order on van/vehicles and documents discipline problems.Provides first-aid assistance as necessary.Conducts pre-trip and post-trip safety check of van/vehicle before each route, to include checking fuel and oil at proper operating levels.Coordinates with Dispatcher to ensure route is run completely and on time.Communicates clearly and professionally with students, parents and other District personnel.Prepares and submits required reports.Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:

High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND one year experience in the operation of buses or vehicles larger than normal automobiles desired.

License and Certification Requirements:

A valid Arizona State Driver's License is required.A valid IV Fingerprint Clearance CardPossess and maintains current First-Aid and CPR certificates.
