Registered Nurse - PCU @ PHP Miami Valley Hospital

Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30) Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Must show experience with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio in Stepdown or PCU in work history. ICU experience does not qualify for this requirement. Travel experience preferred. License: Any state RN license accepted, with the option to apply for a temporary license upon offer. Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Willingness to obtain NIH certification - Must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting the assignment Must-Have: - EPIC experience - Vent experience - Experience with Level 1 or 2 trauma patients Job Description: - Must float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units and may include high-risk respiratory unit/COVID care. - Involves working with tele/drips/vents. - Unit focused on trauma patients with multisystem injuries, including neuro, ortho, and surgical patients. - Commonly managed drips include heparin, Cardizem, insulin, and ketamine, with capabilities to handle DKA and amiodarone. - PCAs and epidurals are frequently seen on the unit. - Staff are trained to perform moderate sedation for procedures like chest tube insertion and wound debridement. - Participate in a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partner to improve workload and patient care. - Nurses may work in team nursing or primary nursing depending on the unit's needs. - Required to be available for every other weekend/holiday work. - Must be fitted for an N95 mask before working unless PAPR is needed/offered. - Navy Blue Scrubs required. - No requests for time off will be accepted after initial submission; all schedule requests must be included at the time of application. - May be canceled due to low census per contract terms. - Right to cancel agreement with notice.
