SpecPro Management Services, LLC is hiring for a Public Affairs Specialist to support our mission in Washington D.C. for the Department of Justice.The contractor shall provide trained and qualified personnel to assist OOC with its communications needs. The contractor must have a bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years’ experience with congressional affairs and performing the various responsibilities below. Specifically, the contractor will provide qualified personnel to assist the USNCB with document writing and editing as well as graphic design support for strategic planning documents. The contractor shall also provide trained and qualified personnel to assist the USNCB with enhancing the USNCB’s Congressional Affairs engagement. The Public Affairs Specialist will create reports to track Congressional activity, review Congressional testimony and will work across the agency and the department to monitor legislation and/or policies directly affecting the USNCB. The Public Affairs Specialist will also work across teams, departments, and regions to facilitate content contributions and engagement from the USNCB stakeholders.This position must report to the DOJ/INTERPOL Office Three days per week. shall also be responsible for the following:Plans and implements coordination for special events;Writes, reviews, and edits all media and Congressional correspondence;Develops and designs high profile fact sheets, presentation templates, and agency brochures;Authors speeches, talking points, and other briefing materials for senior leadership;Authors content and develops layout for the agency employee newsletter;Authors content and develops layout for the agency Congressional newsletter;Creates graphics and organizational charts for agency strategic documents;Monitors legislation impacting the USNCB through various online tools;Assists with writing, reviewing, and editing Congressional testimony for the Director and Deputy Director;Writes, reviews, and edits media press releases;Attends law enforcement meetings with senior leadership for the purpose of gathering newsworthy information for the USNCB’s publications;Attends Congressional meetings with senior leadership for the purpose of creating news stories for the Congressional newsletter and other publications;Supervises and provides guidance to OOC contract staff;Monitors progress of ongoing OOC projects and initiatives and provides updates to the Public and Congressional Affairs Officer;Directs questions and/or clarifies and escalates posts, when necessary, to the appropriate departments, resources, and processes;Communicates suggested content and updates to the community as approved by the OOC and senior leadership.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field preferred.2-5 years of recent relevant experience.Understanding of media relations principles and the role of public affairs in organizational communication.Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging content for various audiences.Secret Clearance Required.SpecPro Management Services, LLC offers a competitive benefits package to include paid holidays, paid time off including sick and vacation leave, medical, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, short and long term disability, company paid life insurance, 401(k) with a company match and discretionary profit sharing and tuition reimbursement.SMS is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
