Work Schedule: Mon - Fri; daytime business hours

Responsible for financial reporting to meet management needs, and external and governmental requirements for the Health System and several affiliate entities within the Health System.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions

Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, current accounting and healthcare industry guidance and health system policies for assigned entities. (See attachment A Responsibilities Matrix.)

Perform and/or review analysis of monthly financial statements, including explanation of significant variances, review of all judgmental areas and necessary accruals for proper presentation of operating results, and detailed analysis of specific line items for assigned entities.

Oversee accounting across the Health System for assigned areas of responsibility (See attachment A Responsibilities Matrix.)

Oversee the financial systems and processes for recording transactions for assigned entities. Monitor the processes that capture transactions, and modify as appropriate to enhance the integrity and efficiency of financial information and internal controls.

Mentor, supervise and train assigned accounting personnel. Responsible for hiring and performance management. Serve as a role model to accounting staff.

Provide excellent customer service in response to inquiries from other departments within the Health System, as well as external parties.

Prepare or review monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts for all assigned entities.

Perform financial analysis of business transactions and clinical programs as assigned.

Assist with development of assumptions, overall preparation and analysis of the annual operating budgets for assigned entities.Preparation shall include the accumulation of detail necessary to support main budgetary assumptions, data, and schedules.Assist Director of Accounting in formulating and implementing financial policies and procedures for the Health System in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, generally accepted accounting principles, and sound financial management practices.

Keep Director of Accounting informed about financial matters for assigned entities.

Perform technical accounting research including documenting research findings and applying research to actual situations.

Participate in departmental meetings as well as special projects and represent the Finance Division as assigned.

Assist with the year-end audit including involvement with the auditors, preparation and review of audit schedules and support, and responding to inquiries.

Assist with preparation of financial and cash projections as assigned.

Assist with developing preparing and distributing management and Board reporting packages.

Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.Master's Degree strongly preferred.Experience

Minimum of seven years progressive experience in accounting.Public accounting experience.Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.Working knowledge of ERP systems.Experience with Lawson preferred.License/Certifications

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
