Position Overview

The Creative Services Director / On-Air Host prepares for and host an on-air show on Life 88.5, KJNW using compelling content relevant to the target listener and is responsible for all Life 88.5 audio and video production.

What will I do in this position?

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Production (45%):

Assume responsibility for all audio and video production. Monitor all audio spots for timeliness and quality. Work with Program Director to ensure all necessary spots for events are done properly and on-time. Keep Program Director informed on all projects. Edit all incoming recorded phone calls to the station for potential use in future promos, fundraisers, and on-air shifts. Produce video and audio content for station web and social media sites.

Social Media (5%):

Work with Program Director to help provide compelling content for the target demographic.

On-Air Show Host (50%):

Host an assigned air shift Monday through Friday, providing compelling content for the target demographic within station format guidelines as directed by the Program Director. Daily preparation time is required; additional assignments will include weekend voice tracking, and other creative ways to enhance on-air show content across all platforms. Create a friendly & welcoming presence to listeners at assigned events outside the station studios and, at times, outside normal working hours.

What will it take to succeed in this position?

Minimum Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

Previous Media experience of a minimum of 2 years preferred

Previous audio and video production experience preferred

Continually nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; serve as a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, kind, and tactful manner

Ability to work in both a team environment and independently, without close supervision

Ability to host events and represent the station in a variety of settings

Ability to plan and execute an entertaining air shift incorporating production elements and promos

Ability to maintain a flexible schedule and attend station events as needed

Self-starter with ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently, without close supervision

Ability to work in an organized fashion and complete projects accurately within predetermined deadlines

Knowledge and understanding of legal and technical aspects of broadcasting

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate spiritual truths

Excellent broadcasting and public speaking skills

Intermediate level computer proficiency

Ability to secure and maintain a current driver’s license

Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
