Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams. Carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required. Performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.Department Description:

Patients admitted to 12 South are typically recovering from surgical procedures, require aggressive physical therapy and have an established discharge disposition. The unit is also able to accommodate the overflow of transitional care medical/surgical patients transferred from the Critical Care areas, PACU, the Emergency Department, and step down hematology and bone marrow transplant patients. Patients commonly admitted are also recovering from orthopedic, urological, radiological, dental/oral, and gastroenterological surgeries.Required Qualifications:Two (2) years recent Transitional Care/Step-Down and/or two years of medical surgical ICU clinical RN experienceFlexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locationsPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's of Science Degree in NursingActive Registered Nurse licensure in the State of CaliforniaActive American Heart Association CPR CertificationActive American Heart Association ACLS CertificationProgressive Care Specialty Certification - PCCNPrevious clinical RN experience in an Academic Medical CenterLicense/Certification:Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of CaliforniaActive American Heart Association CPR CertificationActive American Heart Association ACLS CertificationAbout UCSF:
