Under the direction of the National Director, Channel Business Development and in collaboration with practice leadership, and the Chief Business Development Officer, the Director of Business Development, Legal, Compliance & Risk, is responsible for driving, monitoring, and improving sales performance for BDO’s legal channel service offerings including electronic discovery, digital forensics, information governance, cyber security, data analytics, forensic accounting, and investigations. This position is also charged with building the sales presence and identifying, helping to pursue new business opportunities and closing sales in line with the Firm, regional and office business strategies.

Job Duties:attorneys, mainly Partners in top law firms, as well as corporate counsel, compliance, and risk professionals within corporationsBrings a strong network of C-Suite and legal market contacts which can be translated into new businessCreates and executes against business development plans in conjunction with Advisory Principals and Managing Directors in the local market for services relevant to the target market definedIdentifies business development activities necessary to drive opportunities and define cross-selling and key account programsFacilitates monthly meetings with the Regional BD Director or their designee as well as practice leaders to design, implement, and report on business development / marketing plans for the practiceCollaborates alongside practice leaders to understand service capabilities and reports back to the team on market perceptions, competitor activity, and market pulseDistributes business development plans, goals, and progress reports to Advisory practice leaders each quarter for feedbackFacilitates the monthly production of pursuit/pipeline reportsDirects practice strategies and resources to improve sales effectiveness and maintains compliance with national processesWorks alongside Principals to negotiate pricing and overall delivery of services with prospectsProvides feedback to National Business Development Services on processes, templates, tools, etc.Coordinates with BDO Alliance USA and BDO International member firms on initiatives, as appropriateSupervisory Responsibilities:N/A

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Education:Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) or more years of business development / marketing experience in a professional services environment or industry relevant firmrequired; OR High School Diploma/GED and seven (7) or more years of business development / marketing experience in a professional services environment or industry relevant firm, requiredBachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Marketing, preferredAdvanced Degree (JD, MBA), preferredExperience:Track record of developing business relationships with- level executives (CEOs, CFOs, Board of directors, etc.) and referral sources (attorneys, bankers, etc.), requiredExperience working in professional services firms including accounting, cyber security, data analytics, software, business advisory services and/or electronic discovery industries, preferredLicense/Certification:N/ASoftware:Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, requiredClient relationship management(CRM) experience, requiredMicrosoft Dynamics, preferredLanguage:N/AOther Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Advanced knowledge in the development, management and execution of sales processes including business development planning, lead generation, event planning, pipeline management, account planning management, sales strategy, and developmentAbility to develop business relationships with C-Suite executives (CEOs, CFOs), Board of Directors and referral sources (attorneys, bankers, etc.)Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, marshal resources, and manage change in a matrix environmentStrong business acumen with an ability to understand and communicate BDO's business, marketplace and value propositionKnowledge of contact management software including updating, maintenance, and list generationExcellent project management skillsCapable of working in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneouslyExcellent verbal and written communication, as well as the ability to present and facilitateCapacity to travel to the assigned offices within the region on a periodic basis to meet with business development / marketing personnel, participation in events or sales meetings, and attend regional and national meetings, as necessary (up to 50 percent annually)Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.California Range: $150,000 - $200,000Colorado Range: $150,000 - $200,000Maryland Range: $150,000 - $200,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $150,000 - $200,000Washington Range: $150,000 - $200,000Washington DC Range: $150,000 - $200,000Join us at BDO, where you will find more than a career, you’ll find a place where your work is impactful, and you are valued for your individuality.
