Orano USA is seeking a dynamic and experienced
General Counsel
(US Region, VP) to join our leadership team in Bethesda, MD. The selected candidate will be the chief legal counsel for all the company's affairs, with a particular emphasis on Commercial Transactions, Government Contracting, Corporate Governance, and support for Human Resources.The GC will act as advisor to the CEO and business leaders of Orano. The GC will provide commercially oriented advice and counsel to support all of Orano's business units in the US region. The candidate will facilitate the company's business strategy and operations and manage risk holistically in light of the company's mandates for governance and Ethics & Compliance.The GC will be responsible for managing the US Legal function as well as outside counsel where appropriate. In addition, the candidate will work in close collaboration with Orano's global legal team regarding significant issues and projects.Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the US Legal functionNegotiate, prepare, and review material contractsHandle corporate governance matters for Orano US region entitiesNegotiate terms and conditions for customer proposals, contracts for the sale of goods and services, NDAs, vendor agreements, etc.Manage use of outside counsel as necessaryAdvise Human Resources on employee relationsAdvise the company on Government Contracting bidsSupport operations and corporate functions in the US regionOur Full-Time Benefits

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.Bachelor's degreeJ.D. from a nationally recognized law schoolAdmission to the Bar in good standing in a U.S. jurisdictionExperience at a top-tier law firm, and prior in-house legal experience"Hands-on" problem-solver who can proactively identify problems, identify and assist in mitigating legal risks, and propose business-oriented solutionsExtensive skills in negotiating and documenting complex commercial transactionsStrong written and oral communication skills, and analytical abilityEmotional intelligence and ability to interact at all levels within the companyMinimum 10 years of practice experiencePreferred Qualifications:Experience in and understanding of the energy industry is highly desirable. While experience in nuclear is preferred, other related energy experience will also be consideredExperience in project development, and/or complex industrial project permitting/licensing is a plusFamiliarity with government contracting (DEAR / FAR)Knowledge of intellectual property (IP)The person will be driven to serve and succeed, and adept at dealing with divergent opinions and cultural differencesPlease Note:
