Legal Project Manager

The Legal Project Manager will orchestrate the end-to-end management of various legal matters, ensuring a seamless, efficient, and qualitative delivery of legal services to our clients. This pivotal role involves steering cross-functional teams and employing advanced tools and methodologies to boost client satisfaction, engagement profitability, and compliance alignment. Ideal candidates will be forward-thinking and capable of influencing the firm's project management culture through innovative solutions and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate intimately with client teams to streamline management engagements and spearhead discussions on the improvement of service delivery through innovative staffing, processes, and technology.

Serve as the subject matter authority on legal project planning, budget management, compliance with outside counsel guidelines, and utilization of project management software.

Provide hands-on consultancy to client teams focusing on optimizing service quality, delivery processes, and operational efficiency.

Facilitate communications between the firm and clients to ensure compliance with outlined guidelines, coordinate with Finance to meet billing requirements and support legal staff arrangements.

Support the adoption and enhancement of legal and knowledge management tools like Clocktimizer and Intapp, integrating core project management practices into the firm's culture.

Work on the development and refinement of legal project management approaches by working collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and vendors to ensure best practices are shared and implemented.

Offer mentorship and training on project management and process improvement across the firm to enhance skill sets and promote a knowledge-sharing environment.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement by fostering an environment open to feedback and committed to high standards of work and client-centric innovations.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

At least 3 years of substantial experience in project management within professional services, including legal or corporate environments.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Demonstrated track record of delivering effective and innovative solutions leading to better client satisfaction and overall financial and operational performance.

Proficient use of project management tools and methodologies to drive improvements and accountability.

Strong interpersonal skills to manage and interact with diverse stakeholder groups.

Advanced analytical skills with an understanding and application of metrics relevant to achieving business changes and outcomes.

Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Credentials such as a Paralegal Certificate, MBA, or JD are highly advantageous.

Experience in high-touch client environments managing extensive legal project portfolios.

Proficient in project management software tools like Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and Smartsheet.

Familiarity with change management principles and methodologies such as Prosci.

Accreditations in project management or process improvement (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).

A solid grasp of broad project management trends and how they can be applied in the legal field to spearhead innovation and efficiency.

Skills:

Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging effectively at all levels of the organization.

Stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to manage expectations and build consensus among varied groups.

Technological savvy, particularly with legal project management software and tools.
