Position Overview
Power your future with Qualus as a fully remote Principal Power Systems Engineer supporting our Sustainability group! The Principal Power Systems Engineer will be responsible for various power system studies as well as studies for generation, storage, demand, and transmission projects seeking grid interconnection. This position is completely remote.Responsibilities
Perform Interconnection feasibility studies for new generation, storage, demand, and transmission projects.Perform injection and resource deliverability studies for all or part of a transmission service provider service territory.Optimize the size and location of new generation, storage, demand, and transmission projects.Perform power system economic studies particularly as related to interconnection of new generation, storage, demand, and transmission projects.Perform new and existing generation model validation testing.Qualifications
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering5 years of grid planning experience in North America2 years of consulting experienceIntimate knowledge of the PSSE and/or PSLF power systems analysis tools and their associated models and utilitiesKnowledge of TARA power systems analysis tools and their associated models and utilitiesKnowledge of transmission systems in Eastern Interconnection, ERCOT and/or WECCExtensive experience with power system studiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independentlyExperience with Python or similar programming environment for automation of studiesExperience in one or more of the following power systems analysis areas and tools is necessary:Generation deliverability assessment in RTO service territories, particularly in CAISO, using TARA.Power system economic studies using PLEXOS, PROMOD, GridView, or equivalent.Generation model validation testing.Experience with the following Power Systems analysis and short circuit studies tools and their associated models are strongly preferred:Short circuit analysis using ASPEN and/or CAPEEMT modeling and analysis using PSCADA Professional Engineering License is strongly preferredMS or PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Electrical Power Systems is preferredTechnical supervision skills are strongly preferredCompany Overview
