We’re seeking a
Principal Electronics Engineer
to join our growing Tactical Systems Department. Our Tactical Systems department develops cutting-edge, ruggedized military hardware to support operations via air, land, or sea. Our department focuses on tightly integrated, compact sensing and computing technologies to deliver mission critical information. Our products have been deployed and proven across all seven continents in the harshest environments on the planet.
This role will work on projects such as new sensing modules for our Integrated Weather Observation System, advanced sensors and electronics for military vehicles, and power control electronics for RF-based aircraft navigation systems. This role will design circuit boards, develop firmware, identify, and debug issues, and test solutions for a variety of products from conception to production.
Responsibilities:
Design & Development:
Lead projects and design quick-turn circuit boards to meet program needs using Altium with Concord Pro to manage the designs and library components.
Develop firmware using our Common Libraries in C for PIC microcontrollers and VHDL or Verilog for FPGA’s. Potential for some ARM based development.
Develop and review technical data packages for assigned projects.
Write plans for testing hardware for fielding of prototypes with potential of transitioning prototypes to production.
Ensure the project's compliance with the applicable Intellisense practices and performance standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Peer Review & Project Support:
Perform peer circuit and code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to your team members.
Mentor junior colleagues and help troubleshoot problems across multiple software projects across multiple platforms.
Identify technical issues, propose solutions, and ensure appropriate action is taken to resolve the technical issues.
Collaborate and communicate with project managers and other project participants, and partner with other senior engineers to ideate development strategies that deliver innovative solutions within project budgets.
Requirements:
Technical Skills:
B.S. or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
12+ years of analog/digital circuit design with firmware development for low power standalone sensor systems.
Deep technical understanding and proficiency in C programming for microcontrollers and VHDL/Verilog for firmware.
Passion for electronics and hardware design with creative and critical thinking.
Strong E-CAD skill, preferably with Altium.
Experience in development/management of: Concept of operations, system design, system architecture, and requirements.
People & Communication Skills:
Ability to deliver on multiple project timelines in a fast-paced, small team environment.
Excellent computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Office.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) including presenting design progress during major project milestones (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR).
Fun and open personality ready to work with a diverse team of engineers, program managers, and support staff.
Nice To Haves:
Technical leadership skillset or desire with potential to grow into technical supervisor.
Experience with MIL-STD-810 and -461 testing.
Experience in leading multiple projects simultaneously while meeting milestone deliverables.
PIC based experience. ARM based experience is a plus.
Machine shop/electromechanical skills for quick prototype testing and verification.
Capable of producing engineering drawings and documentation with an understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
Experience with in-situ sensing technologies, such as environmental sensors.
Strong background in physics with an equal desire to learn how things work.
Ability to apply advanced math to develop algorithms and sensor calibrations.

$135,000-$185,000. However, base salary for this position will vary based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
