The mission of ULI is to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide.POSITION SUMMARY:ULI is seeking a Program Director to play a key program management role in the Institute’s Center for Real Estate Economics and Capital Markets. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, REEcap, the person hired for this position will take a leadership role in program implementation, research and publications, educational activities, and communication efforts across all ULI networks. As part of the REEcap team, the Program Director will collaborate with district council staff, ULI members, external partners, and other ULI teams. ULI is a membership organization and the position requires contact and relationship-building with Institute members and leaders, district council leaders, product council leaders, funders, public officials, consultants, researchers, data providers, and authors. The Program Director will collaborate closely within a highly productive, tight-knit 2-person team, working together to achieve ambitious goals and drive impactful results.The ULI Center for Real Estate Economics and Capital Markets (REEcap) is dedicated to supporting ULI members’ essential need to plan for the future of their real estate businesses. The center’s current focus ranges from overarching emerging trends to metric-specific forecasts to new practices and opportunities. One of the hallmarks of the center is to include and spotlight the expertise and experience of senior Institute members through one-on-one interviews, surveys, and a range of convenings. Center activities include research and publications; webinars and meeting sessions; forums and specialized ULI programs; district council and product council programs and engagement.This is a hybrid role, with two to three days in office located in downtown Washington, D.C. Remote candidates outside of the Washington, D.C. area may be considered.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Supporting the Senior Vice President in implementing and evolving the center’s strategic priorities, research agenda, communication approach, and programming for major member convenings.Leading successful execution of ongoing projects, such as Emerging Trends in Real Estate, Real Estate Economic Forecasts, and the McCoy Symposium, all of which focus on a look ahead. Also, new research initiatives, as they are funded, such as the recent PropTech, Retail Opportunities, and CRE-to-Multifamily Conversion reports, all part of the new Deep Dive effort.Managing webinars via Zoom, and Annual Conference Fall and Spring Meeting session panels, including identifying expert panelists and relevant expert mix and facilitating pre-panel communication.Coordinating closely with ULI district council staff and members to create strategies for local events around the center’s work and locally led publications.Representing REEcap’s work to audiences such as the media, ULI district councils, and partner organizations.Maintaining the existing level of quality of the ongoing projects assigned and relevance to our audience.Assisting in attracting sponsorships and other funds for REEcap.Supporting the Senior Vice President in fostering relationships with key partners and current and prospective funders.Supporting other strategic priorities of the center as required.QUALIFICATIONS:At least seven years of professional experience, preferably with a focus on market analysis, finance, and/or other real estate development activities.Knowledge of, and understanding of, the real estate industry overall, supply and demand dynamics, macro and micro real estate metrics, property sector fundamentals, land use, finance, and urban planning.Demonstrated project management skills with internal and external partners.Experience and comfort with engaging with senior leaders in real estate and land use.Outstanding facilitation and partnership skills—easily fosters relationships and partnerships with stakeholders to ensure their buy-in and follow-through program successes.Experience with planning and managing small-scale events.Strong written and oral communication skills, strong critical thinking and analytical skills, and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.Experience in research, education, and outreach projects—ready to be a lead author of ULI research reports and various kinds of case studies.Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.Comfortable working within the details of the program execution and the big picture of the direction of the program.Proficiency with Microsoft suite and Zoom; experience with web design/WordPress and Adobe products such as InDesign is a plus.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.Travel may be required to events two to five times per year.EDUCATION:Graduate degree preferred or relevant equivalent experience in real estate, urban planning, business/public administration, or related degree, with demonstrated understanding of real estate economics, finance, or a related topic.APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:ULI has a robust benefits package that includes health, dental, and life insurance; vacation leave; and a retirement plan.
