IT Portfolio Manager
Job Brief:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Portfolio Manager to oversee our digital portfolio, with a specific focus on Collection Operations and Commercial Routing within the Waste Management industry. The role will be responsible for defining portfolio governance, managing vendor relationships, and executing key digital initiatives. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of project and portfolio management, financial reporting, and release management. Waste industry domain knowledge, particularly in route logistics, is essential for this position. Prior experience as a Change Manager, Program Manager, Project Manager or Release Manager is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Portfolio Management:
Define and establish portfolio governance, including creating project status updates for CIO review on a monthly basis.Develop and maintain a Confluence/Clarity status dashboard, integrating updates from all JIRA projects, with detailed calendars, risks, and effort tracking.Define and implement standardized processes for executing Collection Operations projects and sustaining operations.Manage financial reporting and forecasting for all Collection Operations projects and core sustain operations, providing monthly reports to key stakeholders. This includes overseeing one of the largest spend portfolios.Maintain vendor relationships for all Collection Operations vendors, ensuring successful partnership and delivery.Commercial Routing:
Lead the successful management and execution of the Commercial Routing Proof of Concept (POC) and implementation phase, working with a vendor.Monitor project status closely, ensuring collaboration with the System Integrator (SI) on fixed-bid engagements.Serve as the single point of contact for all Waste Management boundary systems, including MAS, Infrastructure, Architecture, ESB, and OCS.Ensure change management and support activities are appropriately planned for post-project completion.Release Management:
Manage release management activities as a subset of portfolio management.Lead the change management team and document change management practices across Dispatch, Frontline, and the Optimization Center teams.Implement standardized change management processes across all teams to reduce risks to production systems.Develop and implement a Change Control process that balances business needs with the necessary speed of delivery controls.Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field (Masters preferred).Proven experience in digital portfolio management, with a focus on large-scale project management, financial reporting, and operational sustainment.Deep understanding of Waste industry domains, specifically in route logistics and digital solutions.Strong experience with tools such as Confluence, JIRA, and Clarity for portfolio and project management.Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage relationships with both internal teams and external vendors.Experience with budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation for large portfolios.Knowledge of release management, change control processes, and implementing standardized practices across multiple teams.Prior experience as a Change Manager, Program Manager, Project Manager or Release Manager is a plus.
