The

Accounting Manager

is responsible for supervising and leading the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. Provide team leadership in cash management, accounts payable, general ledger analysis, month-end close, reconciliations, ATM proprietary settlement, fixed assets and timely completion of monthly financial reporting. Responsible for development, maintenance and performance of departmental procedures. Promotes accounting service training and cross-training to excel in accounting service performance. Insures responsibility of backup coverage for departmental duties during absences. Instrumental in support of internal and external audit. Takes leadership initiative in project assignments and participates in process improvements focusing on efficiency and process controls. Lead by example in excellent member service to internal and external Purdue Federal members and be a role model of Purdue Federal values.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

•Accounting Service and Settlement

o Assist and lead in daily processing and reconciliation of GL/correspondent bank accounts

o Manage GL entries related to all credit union accounts

o Assists in daily accounting activities and responsible for ensuring proper internal controls and compliance with GAAP

o Assist and lead ATM and Branch cash management and reconciliation of bank accounts and outstanding items entries

o Responsible for providing monthly financial reports, statistical and regulatory reporting, including quarterly call report and annual external audit.

o Additional reporting and information gathering in support of internal and external audit

o Responsible for fixed asset and accounts payable process and reconciliation to GL's

•Supervision

o Build team communication and improve internal and external member service

o Recommend and implement departmental procedures to improve time management and stream-line daily accounting operation processes

o Maintain up to date and monitor enforcement of department procedures

o Direct involvement in department hiring, supervision, training, and review of the professional development of staff

o Promote dialog with staff and with management

•Special Projects

o Assist with departmental projects as assigned by manager

•Individual and Team Development

o Continuous learning and exploring of systems

•Oversees processing of Accounts Payable

•Oversees Cash ordering

o Fed cash

o Security Inc. vault

o Branch cash

o ATM/ITM replenishment

o Month-end closing and reconciliations

o Managing, coaching, mentoring and training accounting team

Required Skills

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

• Education and Credentials

o Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other related fields

• Experience

o Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in accounting, at a financial institution or audit firm preferred

o Minimum 3 years experience in management

• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

o Competent computer skills

o Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in a professional manner when dealing with employees, members, vendors and company contacts

o Ability to follow the core values of honesty, integrity, mutual respect, pride and ownership
