Job Details

The Sr. Cost Accountant will play a key role in the revenue recognition, internal control processes, maintaining capital and fixed assets, compliance with internal and external regulations and management reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyze and report variances generated from inventory purchases and usage. Works closely with operations to fully understand and report the cause of variances.
  • Reconciles inventory subledger to the general ledger monthly.
  • Reviews and recommends COGS adjustment as needed on company-owned inventory.
  • Prepares period cost reserve analysis, E&O reserve analysis, and related journal entries.
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations.
  • Performs quarterly physical inventory counts and coordinates counts observation by external audit firm.
  • Supports preparation and submission of quarterly and annual audit and tax packs.
  • Prepares quarterly variance explanations for income statement and balance sheet.
  • Leads activities in the preparation of quarterly and annual surveys.
  • Reviews and analyzes unbilled receivables.
  • Assists, as required, in special projects to improve overall efficiency, eliminating process waste and improving company profitability.

Qualifications & Competences

  • Understanding of GAAP and corporate guidelines as they apply to accounting transactions.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and reports
  • Familiar with Gov’t accounting, FAR and CAS regulations a plus

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field with 10 years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility over time
  • Experience with Government Accounting
  • Experience using Deltek CostPoint, TM1, and OneStream a plus
