Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) - Oncology, Orthopedic, and Sarcoma Transfusion Services Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30) Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred, especially in oncology License: Valid compact or state license required at time of submission Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale Must-Have: High acuity PCU patient experience Job Description: - Provide care on a 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit, with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU level of care. - Manage a patient ratio of 1:4-5 for Med-Surg Telemetry and 1:3 for PCU. - Float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity as needed. - Deliver special procedures and unit-specific care focused on infection prevention protocols and patient falls. - Utilize equipment including B450 monitors, GE telemetry system, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, and PCA pumps. - Demonstrate skills in dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response team use, feeding tube care and management, and accessing ports. - Perform central line, PICC line, and peripheral line management, as well as starting IVs and implementing heparin protocols. - Manage and titrate cardiac drips, as well as tracheostomy and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC). - Handle chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, interpretation of ABGs, and nasal cannula use. Skills Preferred: - Management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, and insulin drip titration. - Experience with phlebotomy, chemotherapy administration, monitoring, wound care, wound vac, and arterial line management. - Competence in handling surgical drains and non-invasive airway management. Orientation and Training: - First week consists of Monday to Friday day-shift orientation. - Second week includes 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor.
