Description

Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company and has been in business for over 100 years. As one of the largest woven textile mills in the world, Valdese Weavers designs and manufactures residential and contract grade fabrics for furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers.

Job Summary:

Fills tickets for the Weave Room for orders to be woven. Perform the job responsibilities according to IS0 9001 work instructions and standards:

Essential Functions:REQUIRED PRODUCTION OUTPUT PER SHIFT: 24 looms/ 72 tickets per 8 hr. shift.Determine order to be filled from Supervisor and/or printed ticket. Record loom# obtained and # of `tickets to be filled.Obtain yarn from bins. Match filling lots to minimize cloth defects associated with shade changes.Use piece cones when possible, but make sure lots are not mixed if a (X) is present. If mixed lots are allowed, follow all guidelines for proper filling of order.Fill ticket as specified. Be sure there is a sufficient amount of the correct yarn colors to complete the order. Make sure all SAP transactions are performed correctly and yarn is properly adjusted.Take yarn to the Transport staging area to be taken to the loom by the Transporter.Keep yarn bins clean and in order when filling tickets. Make sure to bag all 'white' yarn.Perform other duties when needed or assigned by Supervisor. This includes all 5S assignments.Perform other duties as assigned.Safety:

Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers.Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards.Other Job Responsibilities:

Maintain personal work habits, which meet the demands and stresses of the job.Meet deadlines and production quotas.Get along with co-workers.Follow instructions. Including shift start/stop times and breaks schedules.Work scheduled overtime.Position Requirements

Qualifications:

Basic reading, writing, and math skillsMust be able to discern colors and pass a color blindness test.Must be willing and able to work six to seven days per week when scheduled.Must have a license to operate PIT equipment. (i.e.cherry picker, etc.) *Training done in-house.Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others.
