Job Details

The Associate General Counsel is responsible for leading corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives. This role provides senior management with effective advice on organizational strategies and their implementation, manages the legal function, and oversees the work of outside counsel. The Associate General Counsel is directly involved in labor and employment law disputes, customer contract review, real estate contract review, and complex business transactions.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and active member in good standing of the California Bar required.
  • 7+ years of significant corporate transactional experience, preferably with a national law firm or in-house setting, including experience in drafting and negotiating contracts, real estate transactions, and employment law.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in the development of corporate policies, procedures, and programs. Provide ongoing counsel and guidance on legal matters and their implications.
  • Perform legal research and provide support across departments, including HR, customer contract interpretation/implementation, inter-company agreements, and corporate matters.
  • Assist in key areas of the business by reviewing, drafting, and amending a range of commercial and business contracts (customers, suppliers, service providers).
  • Review, draft, and negotiate various contracts, including manufacturing/sales, procurement, and IT service agreements.
  • Manage various projects and topics as needed by the organization.
  • Maintain knowledge of California labor and employment law and ensure compliance with privacy requirements.
  • Manage multiple legal issues and projects across the organization.
  • Stay informed of regulatory developments and compliance best practices.

Other duties as assigned.
