The position will report to the Vice President of Government Relations and work closely with the GR team to advocate on Nationwide priorities related to financial services, insurance, tax, and related issues before Congress, the Administration, and DC-based trade associations.Candidates must have strong communication skills, both written and oral, and a thorough knowledge of the federal legislative and regulatory process, preferably through at least seven years of either congressional/executive branch experience and/or government relations experience in the insurance, financial services, or related field. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to take initiative, have strong organizational, time management, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in legislative research and standard computer software (Microsoft Office Suite) is also required.This position will require occasional travel and sometimes unpredictable hours. This is a hybrid work schedule of in-office and remote.Job Description SummaryOur Government Relations team are trusted professionals who work with public officials and their staff to create a political and regulatory environment that protects our members and our company. We provide industry expertise that helps government leaders anticipate and solve our customers’ needs. If you can navigate the complexities of the political environment, have the savvy and skills to educate, influence and persuade, we want to know more about you!Key Responsibilities:Leads enterprise advocacy efforts related to federal corporate and Property & Casualty tax issues. Works with business leaders and Finance to identify significant corporate tax threats to Nationwide and opportunities for positive change.Works closely with peer company executives (Senior Vice President Office of the CEO level) to develop insurance industry advocacy strategy and to directly execute advocacy work.Serves as the face and voice of Nationwide, representing Nationwide to the highest professional degree.Develops relationships with key Congressional offices where Nationwide has a significant constituent presence and/or members serving on key legislative committees.Builds and grows key trade association relationships and represents the company’s interests at related meetings and events.Partners in leading advocacy work related to federal and state efforts to update or modify retirement security policy.Provides frequent written legislative/regulatory updates as well as internal Nationwide committee updates.Makes presentations at public events to both Nationwide and external client audiences about advocacy efforts.Leads and directs enterprise advocacy efforts related to legislative/regulatory changes impacting Nationwide’s employee benefit plans.May perform other responsibilities as assigned.Reporting Relationships:

Undergraduate studies in government relations, political science, business or other related areas. Master's degree or Law degree preferred but not required.Experience:
Seven to 10 years of advocacy experience, strong technical knowledge of the political process, the legislative system and operations of regulatory agencies.Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to encourage trust and confidence from politicians, legislators and other senior Nationwide executives. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Broad knowledge of insurance and financial services issues.Values:
