Job Summary
We are actively seeking a talented Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud DevOps Team in Newport Beach, CA, or Omaha, NE. This hybrid role empowers employees to work both in and out of the office. As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will help build the cloud foundation that supports various application development teams at Pacific Life. You will be part of a 6-person team in the Corporate Division, working with Cloud Engineers, SecOps, and Cloud Operations professionals.
Key Responsibilities
•Collaborate with developers, engineers, and architects to determine appropriate cloud services that meet business needs.
•Configure cloud services, including networking (VPCs, VPCEs, Access Points), security groups, roles, and policies.
•Create runbooks to ensure operational readiness of the delivered solutions.
•Build operational services to secure cloud accounts, monitor services, protect data, and ensure system recovery.
•Integrate security best practices for shared secrets, key rotation, and compliance with corporate security policies.
•Work within a Scrum team to prioritize and organize tasks.
•Ensure performance and availability of mission-critical services, building automation to prevent recurrences of issues.
•Develop CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (ADO) and train application owners to use them.
•Build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and train team members on IaC principles.
•Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to review designs and identify gaps or alternatives.
•Provide stable, secure, and efficient cloud-based solutions to support technology and digital transformation initiatives.
•Mentor colleagues in cloud-native architecture, implementation strategies, and best practices.
•Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
•Serve as an expert resource, recommending process or service improvements based on internal and external needs.
Required Skills and Experience
•4+ years of experience in a cloud, DevOps, SecOps, or software engineering role.
•4+ years of hands-on experience building cloud infrastructure or cloud-native applications via IaC, preferably in AWS.
•Minimum of 2 AWS certifications (excluding AWS Practitioner).
•Experience with AWS services such as EC2, EBS, EFS, S3, Glacier, ECR, ELB, Lambda, Fargate, Auto Scaling, and more.
•Experience with Linux (CentOS, RedHat, AL2, Ubuntu) and Windows OS.
•Proficiency in scripting using Terraform, Python, JSON, or CloudFormation.
Preferred Skills and Experience
•BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience and certifications.
•Experience with CloudGuard Dome9, Imperva, Qualys, CyberArk, Splunk, SonarQube, Logic Monitor.
•Experience with Terraform Enterprise (TFE) and Azure DevOps (ADO).
Certifications
•Minimum of 2 AWS certifications (excluding AWS Practitioner).
