Summary of Position:
Provide primary accounting support for the company's critical accounting functions while also working with the Senior Director of Accounting and other members of the accounting team to support the company's overall operations.
Major Areas of Accountability:Works with other members of the accounting team to ensure the integrity and timeliness of accounting reports and other financial information. This includes monthly closing, financial report preparation, balance sheet management and reviewing general ledger-related transactions.Works with other departments in the company to ensure proper accounting and reporting of activities.Works closely with operations to achieve effective financial management and controls.Prepares year-end audit schedules and account reconciliations and provides explanations as needed.Assists Leadership with ad hoc analyses as requested.Prepares and files sales and use tax returns utilizing Avalara - approximately 70 returns monthly.Handle set-up of new retail stores to include filing appropriate applications for business licenses & permits and merchant numbers for credit card payments.Manage all credit cards and other third-party payment accounts to ensure receipt of payments.Annual renewal of store business licenses.Manages fixed assets and prepares capital expenditure reports for management and board reporting.Files personal property taxes for Rockler Retail Group.Manages retail leases ensuring timely monthly payments to landlords including CAM & Tax reconciliations.Attendance is an essential function of this position, and we rely on all our employees to be at work during their scheduled shift.Requirements for Position:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 5+ years of overall accounting experience.Highly organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.Strong written and oral communication skills.Experience filing sales tax returns preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.Experience working with retail companies preferred.Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP systems preferred.Experience writing and/or using SQL queries a plus.Must be a local candidate.
