Are you a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a knack for numbers? We are seeking a seasoned Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This is a permanent, full-time position where you will play a pivotal role in managing and analyzing financial information to ensure the profitability and financial health of our business.

Responsibilities:

As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for a range of accounting tasks, ensuring all financial data adheres to legal standards and company policies.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Performing month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations and journal entries.
2. Coordinating with the finance team to complete annual audits.
3. Analyzing financial reports and seeking ways to reduce costs.
4. Working closely with the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) departments to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
5. Preparing Profit and Loss (P&L) statements and forecasting reports.
6. Overseeing general ledger entries and ensuring they are accurate and complete.
7. Using MS Excel and other accounting software to maintain records and generate reports.
8. Assisting in budget preparation and expense management activities for assigned accounts.
9. Assisting in reviewing and updating the company’s financial policies and procedures.
10. Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need a solid understanding of accounting principles and strong analytical skills.

Specific requirements include:

1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel (V-lookups, pivot tables) and MS Dynamics.
4. Experience with Bistrack or equivalent accounting software.
5. In-depth knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL).
6. Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
7. Strong attention to detail with an ability to spot numerical errors.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
10. CPA certification will be considered an asset.
