Cloud Infrastructure/Automation Administrator (APPLICATIONS PROGR 3)

Reporting to the Enterprise Platforms Supervisor within the IET Application Services unit of EIS, the incumbent acts as a cloud infrastructure and automation administrator and deployment engineer for the IET Enterprise Platforms team. This position troubleshoots, supports and contributes to custom applications maintained by the Enterprise Platforms team that enable access control and account information management to campus cloud practitioners with accounts in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure. A core portion of the work involves administering and automating processes in the campus AWS organization that centralizes account management and provisioning of public cloud accounts on the UC Davis campus. The incumbent utilizes experience with cloud services, infrastructure-as-code automation tools, CI/CD pipelines and familiarity and experience with scripting and the software development lifecycle. This position requires flexibility and the ability and interest to quickly adopt new technologies and learn new skills based on the requirements of any given project. Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training Experience maintaining infrastructure and automating infrastructure deployments, updates and configurations. Experience with version control systems (Git, Subversion, etc.) and experience using one or more common scripting languages Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Cloudformation, Ansible, Chef, Pulumi or similar). Experience analyzing and strategizing about the security of operating systems, applications, and infrastructure. Experience managing Amazon Web Services solutions including CloudFormation, EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Security Groups, NACLs, System Manager, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Lambda and Organizations Working knowledge of distributed computing systems including basic computer networking, server administration, basic application security and cryptography; knowledge of software development workflows using these systems (Git, Subversion, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Current Amazon Web Service certification or Microsoft Azure certification Experience designing artificial intelligence tools and/or using machine learning to accomplish technical tasks or conduct data analysis. Experience with security tooling such as SIEMs, log aggregation solutions, intelligent threat detection software, vulnerability scanning utilities, etc. Experience developing applications using Python. Experience with Azure and/of Google Cloud Platforms. Experience maintaining public cloud organizations including managing access controls, deploying configuration changes to member accounts, applying policy configurations to the organization, and creating and maintaining scripts and automation to manage member accounts and organization-wide services. Interpersonal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information to technical and non-technical individuals at all organizational levels. Backend web server and API development skills. Data science and database design skills.
