UVA Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking applications for a Wireless Network Engineer Specialist to support the Enterprise Infrastructure team. This position is responsible for the wireless network on the UVA Academic side including 8000 WAPs, controllers and related routing domains. This position is required to design large scale upgrades, to implement and employ performance management tools and work with the rest of the wireless team for operations support. The selected candidate will be required to participate in an on-call support rotation. The Wireless Network Engineer Specialist will be expected to develop comprehensive documentation, including solution designs, implementation plans, and technical specifications. This position will also be expected to provide technical expertise and guidance to stakeholders and internal teams on network Wireless Access best practices, industry standards, and emerging trends. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree Preferred. Experience: 7 years. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related discipline 5 years of direct experience with Wireless Network Architecture 5 years managing WLAN technologies including 802.11 b/g/n/ac/ax standards following industry best practices 5 years of 802.1x authentication and security Expert level experience with high-density WiFi solutions 5 years deploying and managing Aruba mobility controllers and wireless access points Experience with Clearpass RADIUS infrastructure Experience with wireless troubleshooting and site-survey tools Experience with ITIL processes; Incident, problem, change, & configuration management Additional Experience Desired: Aruba Switch management Aruba Central NAC (Network Access Control) Device Certificates PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. Anticipated Hiring Range: $130,000 - $140,000 commensurate with education and experience.
