Position will remain open until filled. The Director of Web User Experience Strategy and Design serves the end-user and university. In this dual service, the Director of Web UX conceptualizes and designs the usable and intuitive experience for web users of depauw.edu to be efficient, effective and user-friendly. The Director of Web UX coordinates with university constituents to create and maintain web elements that align with the elevated university brand, as designed by the Creative Director. This role will proactively assess and address challenges to ensure usability and support institutional objectives. This position is eligible for hybrid work. Essential Functions Statement(s) Design and maintain the University Web site and assist partners Director functions: Design and code front-end web interfaces with an eye on accessibility. Ensure that applicable standards such as code validity, browser version compatibility, and accessibility standards are met; optimize Web site architecture and information design for navigability and performance Ensure strategy alignment with the elevated university brand to ensure that design, style, tone and visual elements align. Track key events and conversions and update as needed using Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and other sources. Share web analytic reports and make recommendations based on insights provided. Collaborate with key technical staff and/or partners responsible for creating and supporting the University Web presence. Manage relationships and projects with University stakeholders. Assist with developing University Web policies, guidelines and procedures, as well as monitoring campus compliance. Suggest and generate new ideas to enhance the visibility of the University via the Web and the Internet. Align with best practices through ongoing professional development to deliver innovative, high-impact communications to meet the evolving needs of the University and campus partners. SKILLS & ABILITIES Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in related field preferred; substantial career experience can be substituted for a degree. Experience: Four-year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Communication/Language: Ability to proof and/or enroll teammates to proof content for accuracy and grammar. Ability to respond or properly direct common inquiries or complaints from various university stakeholders. Computer Skills: Expert knowledge and experience coding front-end web using HTML/CSS. Knowledge of PHP & MySQL and/or similar modern programming languages.Experience with content management systems (CMS) like Big Tree. Knowledge of Google Suite of Applications including analytics(GA4) and Tag Manager(GTM). Adobe CC Web application familiarity. Comfortable administering LAMP environment servers. Certificates, Licenses & Registrations: Stay on top of software, system updates and self-directed learning to accelerate learning when needed. Utilize resources available for continuing education. Other Requirements: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in administering and managing Web-based content management systems such as BigTree, Drupal or similar systems preferred. Demonstrated experience managing complex Web and database projects across all phases (design, testing, production) to schedule and budget. Functional experience in departmental management, systems implementation, project management and customer relations, preferably in a higher education or research environment. Ability to manage priorities, deadlines and time critical situations for multiple projects and clients. Experience in managing 24x7 operation of mission critical systems and applications. Experience in a strategic publication, marketing or public relations setting desired. Strong skills in managing projects and people and proven diplomatic, leadership, and public speaking skills, ability to work independently as well as in a team-setting, and aptitude and motivation to acquire new skills as needed.
